Director’s Bio
Born in 1990 in Katowice, Michał attended the Krzysztof Kieslowski Film School in his home city. He is involved with multiple theatres in multiple different roles including acting and writing. He has written six theatrical performances and directed the two shorts Lolo and Kattowitz.

Synopsis
Set in a steampunk world that looks lost to time, with a surrealist throwback to classical silent-film and a touch of film-noir influence, Lolo is a fast-paced adventure unfolding in stylised streets. The story focuses on a character who tries to get a taste of what it is like to live above his social status and amongst the higher classes. Set to a heart pumping score this retro-looking black-and-white film grabs our attention with its daring visual style.

From the start, as a viewer, you are drawn into this weird and wonderful world of Lolo. The filmmakers manage to comprehensively characterise the lead characters without using a single word, and the actors do a fantastic job of using emotive facial expressions to communicate to the viewer. You grow to love the lead character in such a short time, and are rooting for him to have his one night of fame and fortune. The black and white aesthetic is evocative of old vaudeville/silent films, and brings together the overall feel of the film. Well done to all involved.
