Giovanna Castellari is a 24-year-old screenwriter, director, producer, and film editor from Brazil. In 2022, she premiered her first short film, ‘The Hottest Night Of The Year,’ at the 33rd São Paulo International Short Film Festival. Currently, she is working on the distribution of her second short film, ‘Two-Syllable Name,’ which was launched in 2023 and has already received two awards: Best Student Film at the 13th Alagoas Student Film Festival and Best Direction at the 21st Curta Santos.

Synopsis

Two Syllable Name explores socioeconomic injustice, inequality, and the importance of agency through one woman’s quest for fair treatment at work. This realist drama follows a grandmother trying desperately to balance work commitments and caring for her young granddaughter.
